Tower Hamlets Community Transport is a small local charity based in Limehouse.
We provide minibuses to lots of local groups, and organise the Access Bus service
for Tower Hamlets residents who can't use public transport.
You live in Tower Hamlets and you have a mobility problem which means you can't get about to do your own shopping. Maybe you use a wheelchair, maybe you have an illness which means you can't walk very far or you can't carry heavy shopping. If you need a transport service to help you get your shopping, read on.
The Access Bus service is available throughout Tower Hamlets, covering different areas of the Borough on different days. It has low steps and rails and a passenger lift for wheelchair users. You can bring a helper if you need to, or we can provide someone to help push a wheelchair, to guide, or to carry shopping. The Access Bus visits Shopping Centres where you can visit a range of shops. The Centres we visit are all sheltered from the weather, and have accessible toilet facilities. In the summertime we make some visits to parks and gardens.
It costs £1 a trip. There is no charge for helpers.
Members receive regular lists of trips. To book a place on a trip, you phone us
up to one week in advance. The Access Bus will pick you up from home between
9 and 9:30am, and return you home between 2:30 and 3pm. It depends which part
of Tower Hamlets you live in which day the Access Bus is in your area:
We cannot do individual trips but may be able to suggest other transport services that can help.
